A Vision Board for Your Business

What Is a Vision Board?

A vision board is basically a collection of quotes, symbols and images that create a visual representation of goals and important concepts.  A vision board, also called a dream board, gives you a clear picture of where you are going and helps you to ‘see’ your success.

Why Are Vision Boards So Powerful?

Creating a vision board makes you more aware of what you want. You might have a general idea of how you want the future to look, but as you choose the images, words and other materials to include in the dream board, you are forced to narrow down your idea to specific tangible results.

A Vision Board Boosts Your Confidence

A study conducted by TD bank showed that the business owners who use dream boards to plan their future are twice as confident about achieving their goals as those who don’t create vision boards.

Putting objects, words, and images on your board immerses you in your goals in a multi-sensory and experimental way. Because your dreams feel more real and within reach, you are emboldened to pursue them.

A Vision Board Leads You in The Right Direction

Your vision as an entrepreneur influences the direction of your business. It is therefore important to use a vision board to help you clarify your vision.

A vision board can even help you in making important decisions such as the most appropriate location for your business, what sales strategies to use and your target market.

A vision board helps you see what you want so that you can focus on what matters most.

A Vision Board Promotes Optimism

As an entrepreneur, you are bound to stumble upon numerous obstacles in your way. The journey to success is not easy and challenges will arise every now and then.

Having a vision board helps you beat negative thoughts by taking your focus of self-critical and doubtful thoughts.

Looking at your vision board reminds you of the future you desire to achieve. It also reminds you of the progress you have made so far and the accomplishments you have already made.

A Vision Board Makes You a Better Leader

Involving your employees in the process of coming up with a vision board for your company encourages teamwork and engagement.

It also inspires your employees to come up with effective solutions and strategies therefore boosting their creativity.

Allowing your employees to give their input shows them that you value their ideas. They will therefore be more willing to work with you towards achieving your organization goal.

What Should You Put On Your Vision Board?

There is only one rule that applies to creating a vision board for your business: there are no rules.

This means that you can put anything you want on the board. Anything that inspires and motivates you.

Your vision board should consist of a combination of inspirational words and images.  The images can range from photos, drawings, sketches, mind maps and anything else that means something to you.

For example, if your goal is to have the freedom to work from anywhere in the world, you can add a photo of someone working on a tropical beach. If on the other hand, you desire to have an outside office, you can add a photo of an outside gazebo to represent what you are working for.

Different things inspire us all. For some, it is certain verses of the scripture, other are motivated by historical figures, or industry leaders. You can include any or all of these quotes in your vision board.

You can also search for more positive quotes from your social media sites and even add testimonies and other kinds of positive feedback you have received from your clients and peers.  You can also include your favorite affirmations and your ‘word of the year.’

If you have already decided on the vision, mission and core values for your business, you can write them out and include them in the vision board. Each time you see them, you will be reminded to keep your goals in line with your vision for the business.
